The Young Whale Spotted In Dublin Port Has Tragically Died

Liffey Whale, we barely knew thee.

Yesterday we reported on the news that a whale had been spotted in Dublin Port. It was, according to wildlife experts, in evident distress and they were pessimistic about its chances of surviva.

Well, unfortunately, their pessimism was proven correct as the whale was found floating in the water this morning, near the Ulysses passenger ferry.

The whale, which had been identified as a fin whale, will be towed out to open waters to clear the shipping lanes in Dublin port.

In a Facebook post, the Irish Whale And Dolphin Group reiterated that this was unfortunately always going to be the most likely outcome.

Rest in peace dear whale.
