Cobh Ranked Among The 25 Most Beautiful Towns In Europe

There is something truly unique about the South-west region of Ireland,  the quaint towns and villages, the friendly hospitality and the accents like no other. Cobh, Co Cork is getting the global recognition it deserves ranking among the 25 most beautiful towns in Europe by Influential travel publication Condé Nast Traveller.

The Cork seaside town is described by Condé Nast Traveller as:

Cobh redefines charming with its rows of candy-colored homes along the water and towering cathedral standing sentry over the harbor. This town is particularly popular with cruise-lovers—about 60 ships stop there every year. In fact, Cobh was the final port of call for the RMS Titanic, and a commemorative museum stands in the city today.

On the 11th April 2012, 79 people are believed to have boarded the Titanic in Cobh, the ships final port of call.

Cobh is the only Irish town to make the list but it is amongst some stiff competitions. Also featured on this prestigious list is Bled in Slovenia and Hvar in Croatia, two destinations that can only be described as a piece of paradise. Town similar to Cobh that are steeped in history and character also featured on the list, for example, Ribe, the oldest town in Denmark and Rye in the UK.

Condé Nast Traveller state that Europe is known for its busy, culture-driven cities like Rome and Paris. But between the landmarks and hoards of selfie-taking tourists, you'll find hundreds of charming little towns. We couldn't agree more and an Irish road trip will uncover loads of them.

You can read the full list here. Be warned it will give you a heavy case of wanderlust. Rest assured at least Cobh is only a skip, a hop and a jump away and won't break the bank for a weekend break.
