6 Genius Ways To Hide A Hickey

Hickeys are the worldwide symbol for hooking up if ever I've seen one. I think everyone at some stage of their lives has given or received one. They are literally bite marks... someone was gnawing down on your skin like you were a juicy steak. Personally I don't like getting them; I had one once and it was there for what felt like forever. I hid the hickeys as best as I could with foundation, which was a bad idea because the collars of my clothes were all destroyed. But now that I don't need to know how to get rid of a hickey, I've discovered some of the best ways to make them invisible. Damn typical...

1. Use The Back Of A Spoon To Reduce Swelling

Place a spoon in the fridge for 8 - 10 minutes before lightly massaging it over the hickey. The cold will help to minimise the blood seeping out of the vessels onto the skin. Warning: You might look completely ridiculous.

2. Apply Aloe Vera To Speed Up The Healing Process

Aloe Vera is a natural moisturiser known for its rejuvenating and healing processes that can reduce sensitivity. Apply the gel to the hickey twice a day and let it sit for 10 minutes before wiping it off.

3. Use The Inside Of A Banana Peel To Sooth The Skins Surface

The inside of a banana peel acts as a cooling treatment that can help shrink the hickey. Place the inside of the peel on your hickey for 10 - 30 minutes, two to three times a day.

4. Apply A Warm Compress For New Blood To Circulate

If you still have a hickey after three to four days, it's time to bring in the heat. Heat will allow new blood to circulate throughout the area. This will break up the old blood and bring in fresh blood to the area.

5. Eat Foods That Are High In Vitamin K

Broccoli, kale, spinach and brown rice help absorb colts of pooled blood, including those caused by the hickey. You want to aim for a least a cup or 4 - 5 ounzes.

6. Use The Bristles Of Your Toothbrush To Stimulate Circulation

Using a toothbrush (preferably not the one you are using for your teeth - you'll have the mintiest neck in all the neighbourhood!) with super soft bristles helps to stimulate the circulation of blood on and around the hickey. Make sure you use a little pressure and repeat this for five to ten minutes.
