Junior Cert Students To Receive 'Certificate Of Completion'
Today came the news that all third-year students were expecting: the 2020 Junior Cert will not go ahead. Instead, the government confirmed all students would receive a 'certificate of completion'.
The certificate will list all of the subjects that a student undertook.
There had been rumours that the government would try to postpone or replace the Junior Cert with a different exam in the early autumn, but that plan was officially scrapped today.

The Minister for Education Joe McHugh said:
In this difficult time for students I have listened to the very strongly-held and well-articulated views of students, parents and other stakeholders.“This decision has been made with the health and wellbeing of students, parents and teachers at the forefront of our thinking.“It gives students and their families more clarity and certainty. It also gives schools freedom to decide how best to assess the progress of students following three years of hard work and learning.
However schools have been given the right to hold their own exams should they feel they are necessary.
