30 Year-Old Man Sued By His Parents To Move Out Of Their Home

A 30 year-old man from New York has been sued and evicted from his family home after his parents had tried numerous times to get rid of him.

Michael Rotondo from Camillus, near Syracuse, who had been unemployed for quite some time and was paying no rent to his parents, had been hiding out in his child-hood home for the last eight years, scrounging off his parents. Michael, who claims he should be given 6 more months living in the house, had been given numerous warnings to leave his home in written letters from his parents, before they took the issue to court, and sued their own son.

The Supreme Court of Justice Judge Donald Greenwood said Michael's pleas for 6 more months were ‘outrageous’ and issued him an eviction notice on the spot. Michael has called the deliberation on the issue ‘outrageous’ himself.

Suing their son was Mark and Christina Rotondo’s last resort to push their son to move out, after months of issuing formal letters to him.

“Michael, after a discussion with your mother, we have decided that you must leave this house immediately. You have 14 days to vacate. You will not be allowed to return. We will take whatever actions are necessary to enforce this decision.”

After ignoring this letter, a few weeks later Michael received another letter stating: ““Michael Joseph Rontodo, you are hereby evicted.” They offered their son 1,100 dollars, as well as guidance on how to set himself up, and how to find living arrangements, and he ignored them.

In a letter dated from February, his parents said: “There are jobs available even for those with a poor work history like you. Get one – you have to work!”

They also suggested he sell on any valuable items he may have, they said: “This is especially true for any weapons you may have. You need money and you won’t have room for the stuff.”

Rotondo asked to be interviewed outside the courtroom to state he didn’t live in their basement, and he did his own laundry.

Here’s hoping our parent’s don’t take extreme action to evict us anytime soon.
