So Taken 3 is out on January 8th. Genuinely excited! The unstoppable force that is Bryan Mills meets the unmovable object that is the entire LAPD, combined with several other defence forces. The results never disappoint and I for one am looking forward to seeing a 6ft something man with an ambiguous accent destroy the lives and souls of multiple rent-a-goons. But this is the third film so there are a few things you'll need to know!
Here are 5 things to remember before you watch Taken 3:
1. Bryan Mills Is A Serious Badass
When I say serious, I mean heart-attack serious. When this guy commits to something he commits to it. Apparently his daughter (who was taken in the first film) asked him to build her a tree house. That treehouse is now the Hilton chain of hotels.
Don't expect to see this guy running to the cops and crying in the corner until the issue is resolved. Remember, there will be blood, sweat and spinal fluid.
2. He Doesn't Enjoy The Company Of Extremists
Don't make the mistake of thinking "Oh yeah, Liam Neeson plays that really tolerant guy who solves his problems with the power of discussion and reason." You're thinking of Ghandi. Similar kind of guys but wholly different methods. Extremists/terrorists beware!
3. Things Will Get Real!
I'm talking really real! The cops aren't on side so that's just more people to escape from in a high-speed car chase and eventually mess up irrevocably. Sweet! I mean, does it get any more real than rescuing your daughter from being sold to a sex trafficking ring? Well, that was Taken and this is Taken 3. Shit's about to get real.
4. Taking Any Mills Family Members Is Generally A Bad Move
Remember that time you were contemplating taking one of Bryan Mill's family hostage. Yeah? I wouldn't. No seriously, because I've seen someone try that exact thing a couple of times and it didn't work out the best for them. Just keep that in mind!
5. He Has A Certain Set Of Skills
"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."
Yeah, those skills. Initially, ambiguous skills that transpired to be the ability to remove a man's soul through his face and then pummel it back into him with bone-crunching efficiency. Sit back and enjoy the carnage that is Taken 3!
