Episode- "Blood Money"
Firstly, for those of you transversing the World Wide Web, do yourself a favour and get Netflix. Each episode of the last season will debut by the noon of each Monday, the day after the episode plays in the US. Then, sit yourself down and get yourself ready for what is sure to be the 8 most thrilling episodes of any drama series ever!
Now seriously, look away if you don't want it ruined because this is not an episode to miss!
We begin with a flashforward, reminiscent of the one that started Season 5 part 1. Walt's hair is back and he has a beard. He returns to his now abandoned home, where kids are using the vacant, drained pool as a skate ramp and "Heisenberg" is blared across a wall in grafitti. He then retrieves the ricin he had once hid and returns to his car, parked outside. A neighbour recognises him and drops her shopping in shock whilst he calmly goes about his business.
The flash ends and we are back to where we left off, with a clearly stunned Hank, leaving the bathroom. He says he is not feeling well and leaves the Whites, driving home against the backdrop of an ever-nagging Marie. He skids the car to a halt, clearly disturbed and is swiftly brought to a hopsital when Marie suspects he is having a heart attack. He is thankfully not but he tells her to not tell Skyler of his troubles. Quickly, he compares the handwriting in the book he discovered in the bathroom to a file written by Gale and his suspicions are confirmed. Despite this, he decides to retrieve all the files from the Heisenberg case and does his work from home.
Jesse is meanwhile in another one of his slumps. He visits Saul's and asks for $2.5m to be given to Mike's granddaughter and $2.5m to be given to the family of Drew Sharp (the kid Todd killed in Part 1). Saul is uncertain of this because he feels it will look suspicous but agrees nevertheless and calls Walt to sort things out.
Walt is visited in the thriving car wash business by Lydia who wants him to start cooking again. Apparently the new batch is only 68% pure but Walt refuses and Skyler demands she never return. Having been contacted by Saul, he then visits Jesse and asks him to make sense of what he is doing. He assures Jesse that Mike is alive and leaves the money with him. Jesse is still perturbed though and throws the money out onto front lawns and to a homeless man, whilst driving along- feeling that this "blood money."
To launder the vast amounts of money he has obtained, Walt feels he and Skyler should expand their business but all is not well as it is revealed that his cancer has returned. He has not revealed this yet to his family and seeks chemotherapy on his own, still calm. When he discovers that his Walt Whitman book is missing, he begins to worry though. He discovers a tracking device on his car (akin to the one Hank once placed on Gus' car) and fears the worst. At the end of the episode, he confronts Hank in his garage about the device and in a tension breaking moment, Hank punches his brother-in-law. Walt denies Hank's assertions that he is Heisenberg despite the incontrevertibility of it all and advises him that his best course of action would be to "tread lightly."
