Unfortunate if inevitable news for soap fans: living legend June Brown, the 93-years-old who plays Dot Cotton, has confirmed that she is hanging up the cigarettes and leaving EastEnders.
She confirmed the news on a podcast this week:
“I don’t want a retainer for EastEnders, I’ve left. I’ve left for good.
“I’ve left EastEnders. I did make up a limerick. It’s a bit dirty.
“I went back to do a good story. Alas and alack, when I got back it had gone up in smoke.
“Well that is no joke. I got a small part, a very small part. And that ended up as a big wet fart. Alas and alack, I will never go back.”
What a run it's been for June. She didn't debut on the show until she was xx and the soap won't be the same without her.
Remember when she got stoned?
