Let's cut to the chase, if you have made any Christmas plans, or even cobbled together some sort of rough itinerary, it is now entirely redundant - unless that is you'd planned to watch all of the Harry Potter movies anyway under your own steam. RTÉ are planning on showing every single one of the damn movies over a five day window, which I think we can all agree is fantastic news.
While everyone might have their own idea of what film best brings festive cheer, I think it'd be foolish to deny that the spirit of Christmas is best summed up by seeing a pre-teen wizard attempt to negotiate the two most dangerous and traumatising things anyone could ever have the misfortune of facing - Voldemort and puberty.
This is not the end of the good news however as when we say that they're showing all of the Harry Potter films this excludes the Fantastic Beasts films which, I think we can all agree, seem little more than a turgid and cynical attempt to try eke out the long-term profitability of a beloved franchise.
As mentioned, they're showing all the films across a five-day window. Now I'm not a qualified doctor - much to the disappointment of my parents, I am but a humble purveyor of perfunctory web-based media content - again, much to the disappointment of my parents, but I believe that cramming this many Harry Potter films into such a short period of time will put you in severe danger of some sort of Harry Potter-overdose. Should such a thing exist.
