Jason Momoa Wants To Be Wolverine

Jason Momoa is keen to swap his trident for adamantium claws, as he has said he would love to take over the role of Wolverine from Hugh Jackman. A natural transition, with the 39 year old's luscious long hair lending itself very well to animal characteristics.

The 39-year-old became the King of Atlantis in Aquaman last year, and with the sequel not set for release until 2022 the actor still has some time left in the role.

The Hawaiian has clearly not put all his eggs in the DC basket because he is very enthusiastic about becoming part of the MCU. Momoa was asked which character he'd like to play at Celebrity Fan Fest in San Antonio and immediately responded Wolverine.

Hugh Jackman has been the face of Wolverine since the original X-Men movie in 2000, but after 17 years and eight films his time as the mutant came to an end two years ago, with Logan.  He spoke about moving on to MTV News last year.

It’s a bit like you’re at the greatest party you’ve ever been at, you’ve been dancing for an hour and a half, and then you’re just like ‘It’s time, ok. If I stay any longer, it’s gonna get ugly.’ It’s like, it’s time.

Now Jackman has stepped back from the role, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner acknowledged it might be time for the character to be played by a younger actor.

Jackman worked so hard to bulk up, would get up at four in the morning to bulk and eat protein meals every two hours because his natural state, they used to call him Worm when he was a kid.

So his natural state is a very skinny guy. Once you reach a certain age, the body just won’t go anymore. I think he was wise to say, ‘I’m at that point. I can’t do it.’

It was also suggested to Momoa that he do a remake of 1988 film Twins.  The classic movie features Arnold Schwarzenegger alongside Danny DeVito; the two play fraternal twins who are the products of a genetic experiment. The shady people behind the science tell their mother her two children died but instead the twins are separated and grow up living different lives. Somebody suggested he do it alongside GOT co-star Peter Dinklage, and Momoa was very much on board.

F**kin’ tell me where to sign! Absolutely. That’d be amazing. I love that movie.
