The release of Making A Murderer in December 2015 perhaps represented the apogee of the recent fascination with true crime. Instantly becoming one of the most watched documentaries on Netflix, its 10-part journey was one of the most talked about pieces of television in years.
The documentary followed Steven Avery a man accused of a murder from which he was exonerated after serving 18 years in prison before being subsequently convicted of another murder. In conjunction to following Avery it also followed the case of his nephew, Brendan Dassey who was also convicted of murder. The series follows the two men's dealings with the American justice system and their journey to put forward their alleged interpretations of the events.
The popularity of the show ensured a sustained interest in the cases of the two men and Netflix were quick to commit to following a second season covering their ongoing journeys within the justice system.
Eagerly anticipated since the release of the initial series, Making A Murderer part 2 now has an official release date.

The second season will similarly consist of 10 episodes and will follow the journeys of both Avery and Dassey as well as the struggles of their families and legal teams fighting for justice to be done.
