Sometimes the on-screen chemistry between two people can make you think, "OMG those two should totally be together in real life!" Well, here are 7 times when those on screen couples were actually getting it on IRL...
1. Julia Stiles & Heath Ledger, 10 Things I Hate about You
Who knew?! Heath Ledgers burn-out Patrick dates Julia Stiles' Ice Queen Kat all for a couple of bucks before falling for her fo' real. Their on-screen chemistry was so palpable that its no surprise these two got it together when the cameras weren't rolling. They dated for a year.
2. Brad Pitt & Gwyneth Paltrow, Se7en
In his pre-Jennifer Aniston days, Mr Pitt met and fell in love with his on-screen wife Paltrow in the 1995 horror Se7en. They got engaged but called it off after six months.
3. Jim Carey & Renee Zellweger, Me, Myself & Irene
An odd pairing, but nevertheless these two fell in lurve on set and even got engaged in 1999. Rumour has it that Zellweger gave Carey an angry ultimatum which resulted in their split in 2000. Sad times.
4. Nina Dobrev & Ian Somerhalder, The Vampire Diaries
Oh wow. This genetically-blessed couple sizzled together on and off the screen. They dated for three years throughout the show, before breaking up and getting back together again. He's now married to actress Nikki Reed so theirs wasn't a fairy tale ending.
5. Dev Patel & Freida Pinto, Slumdog Millionaire
These two portrayed such convincing lovers on screen that it wasn't surprising when Pinto called Patel "my soul mate" in a magazine interview soon after.
6. Shia LaBeouf & Carey Mulligan, Wall Street Money Never Sleeps
These two fell madly in love on set of this movie in 2009 but split in late 2010 because Mulligan wanted to marry and start a family and LaBeouf felt he was "too young" although he claims to still love her. She married Marcus Mumford of Mumford And Sons in April 2012. You snooze, you lose Shia.
7. Penn Badgley & Blake Lively, Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl is known for its couple-swapping plot lines but the connection between Livelys Serena and Badgelys Dan really jumped off the screen. Their off screen relationship seemed harmonious as opposed to their Gossip Girl counterparts. They dated for three years from 2007 with Badgely calling her "my best on screen kiss."
8. Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell, Swing Shift
This World War Two drama threw together two fine actors in Hawn and Russell in 1983. Its obvious from watching even one scene that this pair were smitten and are still together to this day. Awhhhh.
9. Kaley Cuoco & Johnny Galecki, The Big Bang Theory
These guys were an unlikely pairing in this sitcom, with Cucocos glamorous girl-across-the-hall to Galeckis nerdy scientist. But obviously their on screen connection wasn't just the result of good acting- they dated for two years. With Cuoco recently divorced maybe there's still hope for this likable duo.
10. Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson, The Twilight Franchise
During promo for the first movie, Pattinson admitted that Stewart was his celebrity crush. Totally playing it cool there Rob. Unsurprisingly the super intense couple on screen translated over to real life where they fell just as intensely in love. Until Stewart cheated on him with married man. Nice one, Bella.
11. Jennifer Aniston & Tate Donovan, Friends
Remember Joshua? Yep, turns out him and Jen dated for a few years in the 1990s and were even engaged when he appeared on Friends. But then someone called Brad Pitt came along. Soz Tate.
12. Rachel Bilson & Hayden Christensen, Jumper
They met on the set of Jumper in 2008 where they played boyfriend and girlfriend. Of course, they soon feel for each other for real. Their relationship has been on and off more times then your bathroom tap but finally they seem to settle down together when they welcomed their daughter Briar Rose in October 2014. Cute.
13. Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds, The Green Lantern
Blake fell for another co-star when she starred alongside Reynolds in 2011. Although Reynolds claims that they were just "buddies" on set (please) they married in 2012 and welcomed daughter James in December 2014. See, there are some fairy tale endings.
14. Chad Michael Murray & Sophia Bush, One Tree Hill
Playing high school sweethearts on screen obviously carried over into real life for this passionate couple. They married in 2005 but sadly their union only lasted a year.
15. Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield, The Amazing Spider Man 2
Both of these guys are so likable and it only made sense when they were clearly so into each other on screen that they got together off screen. Together since 2011, word on the street though is that they finally called it quits in the last few months. Devo.
16. Sarah Michelle Geller & Freddie Prinze Jr., I Know What You Did last Summer
This teen slasher didn't bring much horror to the lives of its stars when they met on the 1997 flick. Dating since then, they got married in 2001 and have two kids.
17. Drew Barrymore & Justin Long, Going The Distance
This underrated rom-com sees the trials and tribulations of a couple played by Barrymore and Long. Their chemistry is so authentic and this is due to the fact that the pair dated both before filming and during it. Unfortunately they split soon after and Barrymore is now married to art dealer Will Kopleman and has two little girls. I guess life doesn't always imitate art but it sure does provide you with some electric chemistry on screen!
