Adapted from the musical based on the real tale of the 1960's group 'The Four Seasons' you think there would be little originality in the flick, but there is. The film follows character Frankie Valli, a young and gifted singer from the wrong side of New Jersey, trials and tribulations in becoming a successful singer. Surrounded in a world full of crime and with friends in the mafia, along with a competitive music industry Frankie morality is constantly tested. But Frankie isn't the only character you'll find yourself involved with, the rest of the band mates, Bobby, Tommy and Nicki, will have you in fits of laughter, as well as moments of heartbreak and hatred throughout the formation, the rise and the fall of 'The Four Seasons'.
Director Clint Eastwood, former Dirty Harry, makes a good job of bringing this story to life on the big screen with moments of laughter and sadness, wonderfully combined throughout the film. But the element of theater is still alive within the film, musically the numbers only take place on stage, no big dance numbers here, but by breaking the fourth wall the characters allow you into their minds, their thoughts an more so the truth. All in all, if you're in the mood to see something a bit different and up for heart-warming laugh then this is film for you. Also it has Christopher Walken and that's always a good thing.
