Saved By The Bell Is Coming Back, With Some Old Characters Returning

Around 30 years after its original run, Saved By The Bell is being rebooted - with a twist.

Rather than the usually rule of reboots which sees fresh-faced actors take on iconic roles made famous previously, this reboot is different. Saved By The Bell will see the return of characters from the original series, namely Mario Lopez's AC Slater, Mark-Paul Gosselaar as Zack Morris and Tiffani Thiessen as Kelly Kapowski (technically, in the reboot her surname is Kapowski-Morris, having married her high school sweetheart Zack).

Both AC Slater and Elizabeth Berkeley's Jessie Spano will have starring roles in the reboot, with Slater now being a PE teacher and coach at Bayside. Jessie, on the other hand, is the mother of Bayside student Jamie.

In typical Zack Morris fashion, he somehow ended up as governor of California, with Kelly the first lady of the state.

Both Zack and Kelly's son, Mac, and Jessie's son, Jamie, occupy the main male roles in the reboot.

Lark Voorhies, who played Lisa Turtle in the original series, is anticipated to reprise her role in a guest capacity during the first series.

However, Dustin Diamond, who played Screech, has been left out of the reboot altogether. The actor, who has been embroiled in several controversies since the end of Saved By The Bell, has said that you can't do a "proper revival" of the show without Screech.

The show is set to release on November 25.
