The first two episodes of Normal People debuted on BBC One last night. If you missed it, they'll be on RTE1 tonight at 10.15. It's probably the best and most realistic depiction of what it's like to be an Irish teenager we've ever seen. Oh, and on top of being a really great show, there's loads and loads and loads of sex!
For many people, it was the first time seeing Kildare 24-year-old Paul Mescal on TV, and it's safe to say over the past 24 hours, thirsty tweets have been flying in left, right and centre, all in his direction. Here are some of the thirstiest ones.
The guy who plays connell in normal people is SUCH a ride oh my god....... Paul Mescal if u are reading this i’m free literally every day after quarantine and would like to hang out please let me know if u can hang out with me any day that suits u cos i will be free

Connell’s curling eyelashes are shattering my heart. His long feet in polished funeral shoes. The surging panic. This is all just so very very good. They’re all so very very good. I love it, I love it. I love them. #NormalPeople

Have binged 9 episodes of #NormalPeople and it's the most delicious piece of TV right now - the cinematography, the direction, the acting but mainly Paul Mescal's dedication to Connell wearing incredibly short GAA shorts throughout - bravo fine Sir. pic.twitter.com/q2j2ZTGLiy

Me: Every aspect of this show is beautiful and raw and real and I can’t put into words how much I love it and the impact its had on me and everyone who’s seen it.
Also Me: Absolutely horrified that I now have a thing for GAA players from Sligo who wear chains.#NormalPeople— Róisín (@ALilBitRoisin) April 28, 2020
