It seems like it's been forever since Big Little Lies season one ended, and our wait for season two began.
The show was a big hit when it was released in 2017 with a star studded cast and a twisted story-line that had us all hooked to it like a life-line. Shailene Woods, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman, and Zoe Kravitz all took part in season one and were all tangled into the mess that was the sudden death of Celeste's abusive husband, Perry.
It was confirmed early last year, 2018, that Meryl Streep would be joining the cast for the next season, which made us all the more impatient to set our eyes on season two.
At the end of season one, the women who managed to go from strangers to close friends over the course of the series, were all at themed party when Celeste's husband began to cause a ruckus, forcing the women to take steps they never thought they would, pushing him over an edge to his death.
Season two sees the women being known as the 'Monterey Five' by locals due to their suspected roles in the death of Perry. The trailer opens with Celeste saying to the group "We're crazy if we think people will stop talking", which is very true.
The trailer doesn't give an awful lot away, other than that the group are lost in a pool of guilt, stress, deception, and paranoia, while keeping themselves tangled in their web of lives to save themselves from being caught.
The plot gets thicker when Meryl Streep shows up, playing Perry's mother, demanding to know what happened the night of her son's death.
Meryl turns to Reese Witherspoon saying;
"I want to know what happened that night. I'm very tempted to ask you, but I don't think I would get the truth, would I?",
Which gives us an inkling that Meryl may find out exactly what went down..
Season two is set to begin June 9th, so prepare yourself because this will definitely be an emotionally distressing rollercoaster.
