Wes Anderson's New Ad For H&M Tops Every John Lewis Ad Put Together

Wes Anderson's New Ad For H&M Tops Every John Lewis Ad Put Together

Now that's how you make a Christmas ad.

Wes Anderson's H&M ad

Wes Anderson is known for his trademark directing style with quirky characters, and this ad for H&M is no different. Featuring one of Anderson's favourite actors to cast Adrien Brody, the short film showcases the retailers Winter collection while also being visually stunning to boot.

With pastel colouring, smooth camera angles and quirky moustaches, the ad truly pulls on the viewers heartstrings. Brody plays a train-conductor who announces that due to weather delays, they will most certainly be missing Christmas.

Brody's character announces;

Our estimated arrival time is now 3:17am; we realise this will interfere with many of your holiday plans and celebrations, it certainly cancels mine. We’re very sorry for this terrible inconvenience.

My assistant porter Fritz and I will be serving a small complimentary Christmas brunch including chocolate flavoured hot beverage with whipped topping in the cafeteria section in the rear of the coach starting in 20 minutes. Please do join us, thank you.

It turns out the brunch is a spectacle in itself and wows the little boy who is undoubtedly sad to be missing Christmas. Anderson beautifully portrays this while not overly focusing on the clothes which are unmistakably all H&M.

Is this a new breed of ads for retailers? If so, we can't wait for more to come.
