How To Pimp Out Your LinkedIn And Get Hired

LinkedIn is becoming the new way to get headhunted, seek opportunities and is actually replacing the humble CV.

If you don't have one you should make one now. Lecturers and year heads are encouraging first years to make accounts as soon as they're in the door to get the ball rolling as soon as possible. If you're staring wistfully at your screen right now with tears in your eyes because yours is shite, fear not.

Here are some sure-fire ways to pimp up your LinkedIn page so that you'll actually have to turn down job offers because they're coming in so quick.

1. Write as much as possible about yourself

Talk about all your achievements in extreme detail. In this case it's not like a CV, the more you have written, the better it looks. Every little thing you've ever done should be written.

2. Add photos and videos

This will make your page stand out from the crowd. It can showcase your personality, what you sound like and add a bit of variety to boot.

3. Show your personality

Again, what's great about LinkedIn is that they encourage you to stand out from the crowd. Write informatively but also with a bit of your personality in the mix. Make yourself stand out.

4. Use a high quality photo

This is so important. Loads of employers will skip straight by you if you've a selfie or a photo or you with a mate. This isn't Tinder you want people to know who you are straight away.

5. Connect, connect, connect

Add everyone and anyone you know. The more connections the better, you never know who could give you your lucky break.

6. Tell people about your page

If you meet someone ask them to add you. It'll take them 2 seconds and the more connections, the better.

7. Finally...endorse people and in turn they'll endorse you

This shows employers that other people believe in your skill-set, so do the same back.
