A lot has been said about Irish men over the years and how friendly and charming we are. Most of this is based on Irish celebs, and if people actually went to Ireland they would see how we really are. Less has been said about Irish women for some strange reason and I will attempt to right this wrong. Here are the things that Irish men look for in women.
12) Sense of humour
There is nothing worse than a girl that is a real dry shite. Luckily, in Ireland most women have a great sense of humour and know how to have the craic. For those few that are still too stuck up their own hole, you're missing out.
11) Comfortable in their own skin
It doesn't matter if you're tall or small, skinny or curvy their is nothing more endearing than a woman who just embraces who she is. You would be surprised at how many men would go for the curvy girl with confidence than the shallow skinny girl.
10) Love For Life
This doesn't mean they have to be happy go lucky and upbeat all the time, more that they have a real passion for something. This could be their hobby or even their career. Irish men love girls with a real enthusiasm for life, no matter what it's for.

9) Patience
If you're dating an Irish guy you will need a lot of it.....and I mean a lot. We're not really the most decisive bunch and sometimes we need a bit of time. We really appreciate a girl that has a bit of patience and can deal with our shit.
8) Respect for themselves
Irish men are not attracted to that girl at the end of a night out that is falling all over the place and cursing at the bouner. We know every now and again you might go a bit overboard, it happens to the best of us.
7) Bags of Personality
Of course we are attracted to how they look, but if they don't have any personality we won't be talking to them for long. It's like talking to a brick wall if a girl has no personality, albeit an extremely attractive wall.

6) The right attitude
Jennifer Maguire from The Republic of Telly is a great example. She has a good attitude when it comes to dealing with guys and she sees through the bullshit. We like to know where we stand so when a girl is really forward, we automatically know what she thinks of us.
5) Independent Minded
We like girls that think for themselves and have their own unique way of looking at the world. It's a definite turn on if she has strong opinions, even if you disagree with her from time to time you still have a lot of respect for her.
4) Thick Skinned
If they can dish out the abuse they have to be able to take it as well. If you can have the banter with a girl and it's going both ways she's a keeper. You don't want a girl being easily offended at the first thing you say to her.

3) Being judgemental, but not too judgmental
We might not know it, but every now and then we need a good kick up the arse. We need someone to tell us not to wear those clothes or stop acting like an asshole. We don't like it when you go over the line though, we hate being called out for watching the World Cup all day.
2) Just the right amount of crazy
Irish lads can be a bit mad sometimes and if an Irish girl is just as, or even more mad then you, then you're onto a winner. Life can be crazy sometimes so it's good when you have a fellow companion that is just as crazy.
1) We really just want someone who is like our Mammy
Kind, caring and compassionate, all the makings of an Irish Mammy. Most guys don't know it, but the person they often end up with is the one that is most like their mam. You need someone else to take care of you once you finally decide to move out.
