Gardaí Urge Public To Report Shocking Images Of M50 Crash On Social Media

Gardaí urge the public to report any trace of the video being shared on social media of the fatal crash on the M50 yesterday morning.

The multi-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a woman in her 30s, with another person involved sent to hospital with no serious injuries, happened yesterday morning, shortly after 11.30am on a slip road just off the M50 in Finglas.

Many images were shared online of the collision, but a truck driver who passed the scene and recorded footage has been slammed for sharing graphic content on his social media, which has caused a stir online.

The video in question has been described as 'gruesome', 'disturbing' and 'horrific', with many calling for the person who shared the images to be arrested.

People are using this incident to show how desensitised social media has made us, with the sharing of sensitive content becoming a norm on sites such as Instagram/Twitter/Facebook.

Twitter users are asking sharers of the content to have some decency and show respect to the friends and family who have tragically lost a loved one.

An Garda Síochána sent out a Tweet during the incident to ask motorists to avoid slowing down while passing the scene of the accident, to avoid further delays on the M50.

Update 2: Motorists slowing down unnecessarily while passing the scene of this incident are causing delays on the M50. Gardaí at the scene are requesting that motorists drive safely and avoid causing any further delays.

Gardaí have appealed for the public to report any sighting of the images online and to show remorse to those who have been personally affected by the crash, whether it's family and friends, or others who have been involved in the collision.

This is one of three fatal incidents that happened on Irish roads in the last 24 hours. A woman in her 80s lost her life following a collision in Galway this morning, along with a man in his 40s being struck by a 4 x 4 in Co. Kildare last night.
