This Little Girl's Response To Racial Discrimination Will Restore Your Faith In Humanity

This hero of a little girl shut down racial discrimination and it's everything. Everybody remembers picking out a toy they really wanted from the toy shop and this little girl was no exception. After Sophia used the potty for a month by herself, her parents promised their daughter she could pick out a new doll. A casual trip to the toy store turned into an unexpected conversation.

Brandi Brenner, Sophia's Mam, explained on Instagram over the weekend that Sophia chose a "doctor doll" because she's obsessed with becoming a doctor. Upon taking the black doll to the counter, she was asked by a salesperson, "Are you sure this is the doll you want, honey?" To which she replied "Yes please!" But the salesperson continued: "She doesn't look like you. We have lots of other dolls that look more like you."

Sophia was not afraid to explain the similarities between herself and the doctor instead of focusing on the one insignificant difference. "She's a doctor like I'm a doctor," she said. "And I'm a pretty girl and she's a pretty girl. See her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?"

Sophia was simply explaining, in layman's terms, why this doll was no different from her. Sadly, Sophia shouldn't have had to explain her choice. Sophia's Mam hit the nail on the head with this explanation: "This experience just confirmed my belief that we aren't born with the idea that colour matters. Skin comes in different colours just like hair and eyes and every shade is beautiful."

The post has gone viral on Facebook and Instagram with thousands of people congratulating Sophia and her Mam. Gender, sexuality and race doesn't matter to a child and this scenario proves that point. It proves the point that we are taught how to discriminate against one another and children, the least influenced by hate, can accept different people and don't see what others are taught to see.
