Pregnancy Advice Clinic Makes False Claim That Abortion Can Give You Cancer

This makes us sick to our stomach. We have to applaud the brilliant investigative journalism by The Times, who have uncovered the misleading and biased "advice" being given to women at the Ask Majella crisis pregnancy clinic.

The video features a young women who goes undercover into one of the two unregulated centres and is told that an abortion can lead to breast cancer and increase a women's chance of losing all their reproductive organs. If that wasn't enough to boil your blood, they also make the ludicrous claim that women can die from having sex and that contraception was dangerous.

The video goes on to uncover some of the horrifically misleading advice given to women who are looking to seek 'unbiased and fair' advice. The two counsellors say things like, 'It's like pushing your child in front of a moving car. A ridiculous decision, to end a child's life.'

The reporter, who posed as a pregnant 20-year-old, was told that an unplanned pregnancy can be a 'blessing', can prevent a woman from catching STI's and even offered to give the women an ultrasound, which she obviously refused. The reasoning behind this is to persuade the undecided woman into keeping her unborn child.

The Ask Majella clinic can be found at 46a Dorset Street, Dublin and advertises on their website that they 'will give you compassionate support in the place you find yourself at the time. They also go on to say,

'As we are a Catholic support service we provide this service in accordance with the principles that we believe the best and truly positive option is one where there is no loss of or detriment to life.'
