7 Sh*tty Ways To Dump Someone

We've all had our hearts broken at some point and let's face it, it sucks. But, sometimes we're the heartbreakers instead of the heartbroken. There's never really an easy way to end a relationship but there are definitely ways NOT to end a relationship. We've all dumped people, and unfortunately we've all done it in these ways.

1) Choosing a night out as the time to break their heart.

You can pretend to be shocked all you want but it's definitely crossed your mind. There's nothing like a night out, surrounded by ridiculously good-looking people that makes you realise you would rather be single and ready to mingle. Thinking back, maybe shouting your parting words over blaring music and turning around to shift someone else in front of them wasn't the classiest move.

2) The seven page e-mail.

Are you work colleagues? No, you're in college and will probably see them the following day so there is no point in telling them (over seven pages) what made you decide to break their heart. Once they see the subject "It's over!", chances are they do not want to continue reading an essay on everything they did wrong.

3) Using the silent treatment to send the message.

Sure, we've all thought that the best way to break up with someone is to avoid them and eventually, they'll take the hint. The only major drawback to this method is that you will, without fail, bump into them in the most awkward of circumstances and they will, also without fail, ask "have you been avoiding me?" Better prepare your answer for that one.

4) On the way back from your romantic trip away.

Parents will tell you holidays are the best way to see if you work together but this doesn't mean if you decide you don't work, you should break up with them on the way home. You still have to sit in an awkward silence for the remainder of the plane or car journey with both of you feeling you splashed the cash on a pointless holiday.

5) Any way other than in person.

We always say "I would never break up with someone by text" but does that stop us? Phones are our worst enemy when it comes to relationships. One bad thought and we're on the phone texting, "I just don't know if this is working." Karma usually ends up biting us in the ass because had we known they were going to get a haircut, buy new clothes and look RIDICULOUSLY hot that very day, we probably wouldn't have ended the relationship.

6) The day before Christmas/ Valentine's Day/ anniversary/ birthday.

This is especially for the lads... just don't do it! No girl wants to have their heart broken any time close to these days because it will ruin every single plan they've made. She's been daydreaming for weeks about the romantic stroll you'll have under the Christmas lights on Grafton Street - Starbucks in one hand, yours in the other. Snow will fall all around you and as one little snowflake touches her nose, you lean in and kiss it...Ruin those plans and you've got yourself a death-wish.

7) Springing it on them, out of nowhere.

In an ideal world we would drop a few hints before hitting them with the whammy. I don't mean leaving traces of paper saying "I hate the way you eat your food", "You have the longest nose hair I've seen" and "Ever heard of the gym?" But announcing you want to break-up when they're blissfully happy and cooking you dinner may not be the nicest... or the wisest.
