8 Reasons to Date a Man Who Reads

1. He's more likely to be intelligent.

Studies have shown that people who read regularly are more likely to be successful and rank higher on IQ tests. Intelligence is sexy. "A man who doesn't read has no right to feel superior over a man who can't read."

2. You will have things in common.

"When you see someone reading a book that you love, that is a book recommending a person." When you say that you'll be an hour late because you had to finish the book you were reading he will understand.

3. He'll be more likely to buy you books as gifts.

This is a big one. Marriage material.

4. He'll be more romantic.

Learning from the likes of Mr Knightley in Jane Austen's "Emma", Travis Maddox in Jamie McGuire's "Beautiful Disaster" or even Christian Grey in "50 Shades of Grey" is to be commended. Any boy with an interest in reading can learn a lot from these masters of seduction. Prepare to be wooed.

5. He will empathize with your slightly bizarre connection to fictional characters.

Anyone who has read "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee and claims to not have fallen in love with Atticus Finch is a liar. Sometimes you just need to express your affection to someone who understands.

6. He'll agree with you that "the book was better" when going to see film adaptations.

He will sympathise that the essence of the character wasn't quite captured. Like when beautiful Emma Stone was cast as gawky Skeeter Phelan in "The Help". You missed the point, guys.

7. Conversely, he'll rejoice with you when the casting director hits the nail on the head.

As if Severus Snape could ever have been played by anyone OTHER than Alan Rickman. Pure genius.

8. His vocabulary will be better.

When it comes to talking dirty this can only be a good thing. Someone who knows that sending a dick pic via Snapchat isn't going to cut it. He'll appreciate that sometimes subtlety is sexy. A man who knows the meaning of the words "frenzied", "heightened" and "climax" deserves a second date.
