Album Releases: October 2013

Some highly anticipated albums are set to drop this month, here’s just some of the records that will be available for purchase throughout the month:

Pearl Jam return with their latest effort Lightning Bolt. In recent interview with Total Guitar, the band's guitarist Mike McCready said of the album's sound; "there's a Pink Floyd vibe to some of it, there's a punk rock edge to other stuff". Sounds promising.

Nu Metal band Korn release their latest album The Paradigm Shift, which will also mark the return of the band's original guitarist Brian Welch who last appeared on the group's 2003 album Take A Look In The Mirror.

For fans of the electronica music scene, Moby’s new album Innocents hits stores. The album features collaborations with artists such as Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, Mark Lanegan of Queens of the Stone Age and Skylar Grey, most famous for penning the hit "Love The Way You Lie."

Fans of indie rock group Arcade Fire can rejoice as the band's latest album Reflektor drops at the end of the month, in a two disc format with a total of 13 tracks.

After a rather flamboyant promotional campaign that featured a massive gold truck emblazoned with the name of the record that travelled through cities and states across the US, Katy Perry will release her fourth studio album Prism. The lead single "Roar" didn’t offer up much of a change in direction for Perry, here’s hoping the rest of the album doesn’t follow the same pattern.

Following her infamous twerking, grinding, god awful showing at the MTV awards, Miley Cyrus unleashes her album Bangerz and with the number of internet and YouTube hits the singer notched up in the last few weeks, it will be interesting to see if her antics will pay off in record sales.
