We’ve been watching Ireland’s leading dance promoters with a keen eye over the last few months. Residence, based in Dublin have shown a distinct diversification in their lineups. Blending the likes of Otto Knows together with the more progressive stylings of Mat Zo and the techier vibes of Mark Knight to create a more rounded mainroom experience for their fans. They’ve also managed to unearth a Christmas lineup to die for which includes none other than industry legend Benny Benassi.
Having last appeared before his most recent bolt to stardom Benassi has a devout following in this country, indicated by both the considerable hype and large ticket sales for this show. Having shot to fame with the international hit single that was Satisfaction, he has gone on to have a stellar career by any standards. A grammy winner thanks to his fantastic rework of Bring The Noise, the Milan born DJ and producer made his biggest splash in 2011 with his smashing LP ‘Electroman’. Utilizing the talents of vocalists like Kelis and Chris Brown, Benassi unleashed a new wave of house infused electro onto the masses and in the process established himself as one of the biggest names in dance music. Tracks like Beautiful People and Cinema dominated the charts for weeks while belting remixes from the likes of Skrillex and Calvin Harris kept the clubbers happy.
2013 has seen the rebirth of Benassi. Emerging from the studio with a new electro banger in the aptly titled ‘Back To The Pump’ which at present is edging it’s way to the top of the Beatport chart. It is without doubt an exciting time to see the the prolific producer as he seems to be once more preparing himself for another wave of new releases. Add in the fact that the incredibly talented Felix Cartal makes a rare Irish appearance and you have the recipe for one hell of a night. Having witness both Otto Knows and Mat Zo tear the roof of The Village in recent months, to say we are looking forward to this would be a major understatement.
