It's just like an Amazon or iTunes card you can buy in loads of shops; PC World, Curry's, GAME, Argos. You scratch off the back to get the redeem code and bobs your uncle, welcome to the world of dangerous binge watching. They'll come in 15, 25 or 50 euro.
Even if you're terrible a maths, you've probably realised that Netflix's monthly cost of 8.99 doesn't fit exactly into the value of each card. So if you have a little bit of credit left over in your account, the only way to use it is to top it up.
