How To 'Friend Zone' A Friend

This is, without a doubt, one of the most awkward and potentially gut-wrenching situations ever: when you realise a friend is trying to get out of the friend zone - or worse, when you think they might be falling in love with you - and you don't feel the same way... I mean, it's hardly a fun situation for either party and somebody always gets hurt eventually. There's no nice way of doing it, but here's the best way to keep your friend in the friend zone. Try to avoid letting them know it's not going to happen or, if that doesn't work, you just have to be upfront about it.

There's no nice way to do it, but there are things you can do to keep your friend in the friend zone. Help them understand it's not going to happen and, if that doesn't work, just be upfront about it.

1. Anytime he/she says anything like "If I were going out with you", laugh it off. Say things like "Oh god, we could never go out - that would be crazy!"

2. If you're with your friends and you start talking about sex, make sure he/she hears you say something like "I could never have sex with a friend, that would be so weird".

3. If they actually go in for the kill and try to ask you on a date or kiss you, you'll have to bite the bullet. Just be straight with them and tell them you don't feel the same way.
