Graham Norton Explains Why He's Fearing He Could Be Axed By The BBC

Say it ain't so.

One would imagine that any talk of Graham Norton's BBC chat how being axed is nonsense but the man himself has spoken of why thinks he may be the next big name to be shown the door.

In January, a new charter will publish the salaries of any BBC employee earning over £150,000 a year and Norton fears that either him or Gary Lineker will suffer the fallout.

Speaking about the bosses within the BBC, Norton told the Telegraph:

You assume they pick their targets.

There was Jonathan Ross, they saw him off; Jeremy Clarkson, Chris Evans… So now they will pick on whoever’s left, which is me and Gary Lineker. I hope Gary’s ready; he’s not stupid, he must realise it will be one of us next.

To be fair, Ross and Clarkson's departures both came on the back of their respective controversies but the publication of salaries will definitely generate a reaction from the public, are the people who pay the salaries of those in the BBC.

With Ross' show on ITV, if Norton were to leave, a return to Channel 4 may be an option or perhaps he could follow the Top Gear lads into the on-demand streaming world.
