Comparisons to Disclosure’s brand of electronic house have seen Dusky attracting a lot of attention, accompanied by the persistent rise in Ireland’s House music scene. They are at the forefront of the US’s traditional house revival, with garage, deep and tech house the music of the underground scene. The duo’s song ‘Flo Jam’ pulls you back to the nineties were overalls with one strap on and puff skirts were acceptable.

This funky fresh song has a clear vibe of the house and garage. Role-models for the duo growing up were acts such as the Prodigy. Dusky formed their alliance in school, with the sounds of 90’s London integral in the duo kick-starting their career. They found their place in the underground garage, jungle and the liquid drum and bass scenes of the 90’s and noughties.

The influx of nights such as Sense in the Academy, Bruce Willis in Lost Society, and Mud in the Twisted Pepper is a clear signal that Dusky’s own brand of House most certainly won’t be forgotten by Irelands House revellers. Following the path of the colossal deep house/electronic producer Maya Jane Coles who’s first big break was with Dogmatik records.

Dusky signing to one of the most illustrious record labels in electronic music, which has been around since 2006, is a clear statement that the future looks bright. The release of their recent EP ‘Careless’ is promising work from the duo.
