An Indian television news reporter has been sacked after a video went viral showing him reporting on the massive floods in the north of the country, while perched on the shoulders of a local villager.
Narayan Pargaien claimed that the villager, who is clearly wobbling from the strain of carrying a fully grown man in ankle-deep water, hoisted him onto his shoulders "out of respect".
"What he did was very inhuman. You cannot ride on someone's back for a story (pun intended) We terminated him on Tuesday," said Mr Nishant Chaturvedi, channel head at News Express.
