In a new study by 3 Mobile, Irish smartphone users spend 2.2 million hours on their smartphones every day.
Streaming almost 350,000 movies on Netflix, uploading 40,000,000 #Selfies to Facebook or Instagram, streaming approximately 20,000,000 songs on Spotify, and watching almost 170,000 cat videos on YouTube. This combined data usage would equate to 212,320GB or 206.4TB every day.
The survey reveals that almost half the population now owns a smartphone with ownership increasing by a massive 53% in just one year.
In addition to a huge increase in smartphone ownership, Irish people are spending more time online than ever before. Irish people are spending 140% more time online on their smartphones than they did just two years ago.
The time spent using desktop and laptops has plummeted by 22%. Smartphones, on the other hand, are commanding 64% more of Irish people’s online time than last year.
