Skinny Jean Emergency: Woman's Tight Pants Land Her In Hospital

First Apple, now this. It's as if the universe is having a go at what we love most this week. Doctors in the UK have warned that wearing skinny jeans is now seen as a health hazard and can potentially lead to being hospitalized. Well, if you spend your day squatting, at least.

A 35-year-old Australian woman had to spend four days in hospital after her calves basically exploded from crouching for too long in skinny jeans. The woman was in the process of moving houses and spent most of her day bending down into cupboards in order to move things. She noticed massive swelling in her calves and had to be rushed to hospital where she was then cut out of the jeans. Yes, cut out.

The woman was put on an intravenous drip as she had developed compartment syndrome, a condition caused by the swelling and bleeding of a bundle of muscles. In her case, in her calves. Not so pleasant.

Although medics are claiming the syndrome is very rare and to carry on wearing skinny jeans, that story would make us think twice before buying jeans a size too small, just because it makes our bum look a bit more like Kim's. Check out the video below to see what the world is saying about the skinny jeans fiasco:
