VMA Results

It's the most stupid awards' ceremoney MTV have to offer and this year was no exception as they dished out awards for the most frivolous of categories, including "Song of the Summer" and "Best Video with a Social Message." Seriously! As if anyone from MTV cares about a social message being conveyed. These are the same people that flog pregnant teens onto the air in order to boost ratings whilst gorging themselves on the Biebs' new outfit and other such malarkey. Are we supposed to believe they really feel there's a need for their audience to understand the misgivings of society? Are these idiots really sitting around debating the illegalisation of arms or tax cuts for certain income thresholds? No- they're sitting around, wondering how young they can get with the girls they expose on stage. Rant aside now, let's move on to the actual awards.

Miley Cyrus literally looks like a dog- this is a taste of what's to come but if you're brave, read on...

Video of the Year- Justin Timberlake "Mirrors"

It's about the music, not the videos MTV.

Best Song of the Summer- One Direction "Best Song Ever"

A terrible song.

Best Female Video- Taylor Swift "I Knew You Were Trouble"

Why would you engender such a category? Anyways, she made a speech thanking the inspiration for the song. The camera cut to hearthrob Harry Styles. Terribly scandellous.

Best Male Video- Bruno Mars "Locked Out Of Heaven"

The one with the fuzzy camera?

Best Pop Video- Selena Gomez "Come and Get It"

I mean, if you have "Video of the Year," surely that placates the need for any of these other video awards?

Best Rock Video- 30 Seconds to Mars "Up In The Air"

Seriously, what's up with this band and MTV? I don't know anyone who listens to this band. Do MTV even have any other bands lined up for this category? What about Muse's "Panic Station?"

Had to look up a picture to see what they actually look like. Not impressed.

Best Collaboration- Pink ft. Nate Ruess "Give Me A Reason"

Last year when I wrote an MTV article, someone gave out to me for speculating about Pink's true gender. I stand by my article as she thrashes out another supposedly edgy, masculine turd.

Best Video with a Social Message- Macklemore and Ryan Lewis "Same Love"

I've already ranted about this category. While there may be some comment in this particular video, I can scarcely imagine the need for an entire category.

Artist to Watch- Austin Mahone

But by all means, do not listen to.

Michael Jackson Vieo Vanguard Award- Justin Timberlake

And that completes the list. JT did in fact reunite with NSync amid rumours and they performed for a raucous 90 seconds, going through a medley of "Bye Bye Bye" and "Girlfriend" as he zapped his way through some of his solo hits too.

Some of the other performances included that of Katy Perry's; she performed her new single "Roar." Lady Gaga played "Applause," opening the show with her first performance since she was forced to cut the Born This Way tour early (due to a need for a hip surgery). The worst moment of this blood-curdling event (and there were more performances than awards) was undoubtedly the mash-up of "We Can't Stop" and "Blurred Lines" performed by Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke (oh, and "Give It 2 U"... enjoy). It was kind of creepy, so by all means watch the video below and sorry if the results have upset you.
