- "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke has managed to take the top spot in both the UK and Irish charts. Its success has been huge and we would like to think here at Collegetimes, we had something to do with it- having posted it before the surge to no. 1. Meanwhile, Daft Punk remain at the top in the albums charts both side of the pond. Thomas Bangalter spoke this week of how the last time he tried ecstasy was on the day Kurt Cobain died. Nearly twenty years ago but this album has been selling crazy like Oasis' Be Here Now and so we cannot blame them for a bit of projectory.

- The Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to get back to work on a new album in Autumn. Chad Smith revealed they would begin writing around September and given their last effort, 2011's I'm With You, this will want to be a good one.
- John Squire has revealed the Stone Roses have a few new songs. Now, while fans were expecting an album this year (as the band had said they would release an LP in 2013), it is more likely that there will be a 20 year lapse between 1994's The Second Coming and whatever comes next. Meanwhile, Shane Meadows has completed the much anticipated documentary on the boys, so expect a DVD release soon or something like that.
- Earlier this week, a fan slapped Beyonce across her ass during a Copenhagen gig. The singer was "bringing it" with "Irreplaceable" when she was grabbed. She jokingly threatened to have the man escorted out but went on, aware probably that it can sometimes be unavoidable to make contact with a rear second only to that of hip-hop monstrosity, Nicki Minaj.
- Oh yeah and the Kings of Leon have said their next album will be more "musically complicated." So there's that...
