11 TV Shows Every College Student Needs To Watch

There's always time for binge watching TV until your eyes bleed. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong. And so with that appetising image burned permanently into your little brain, here are eleven tv shows you have to start watching, right now.

1) Trailer Park Boys

A cult Canadian comedy documenting the lives of three guys who live in a trailer park. Hilarity ensues as they try to get rich in wildly funny ways. Creating a cast of lovable losers, TPB shows that minuscule budgets can translate into brilliant comedy.

2) Peep Show

An Award-winning British comedy dealing with the very real issue of having sweet fuck all in common with your roommates, except for the fact that you both struggle with day to day life. Refreshing humour that is awkwardly relatable makes this a definite must watch.

3) My Cat From Hell

Face it, cats are woven into the fabric of the internet as fab images and a way and means of displaying emotions, as well as the fact that they're really damn cute, obviously. Follow the exploits of a "cat behaviourist" Jackson Galaxy (yes, really), and watch in delight as ferocious felines are turned into furry bundles of friendship. Cute. <3

4) The Wire

Fuuuuck, this is a must see. An ultra gritty and hyper-realistic depiction of law enforcement, set in the bleak Baltimore drug scene as cops clash with drug dealers. What makes "The Wire" unique is that it shows everyone affected by drugs and gives us a depressingly in-depth look at the repercussions on society.

5) A Young Doctor's Notebook

Set at the outset of the Russian revolution, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Jon Hamm as the same character at different stages of their lives, A Young Doctor's Notebook shows their struggle as morphine addiction slowly overcomes them. Did I mention that Jon Hamm is in it?

6) Hannibal

A darkly brilliant reimagining of a cult classic makes for compelling viewing. Yes, it's still serious and as stylistic as its namesake, so fear not. Don't miss it if you want to marvel at horror, drama and suspense all rolled into each of the hour long episodes.

7) The Walking Dead

This recent look at the (until now) tired zombie cliche has attracted love and hate in spades, but undoubtedly makes for entertaining viewing with cliffhangers galore and drama at every corner, not to mention the fact that binge watching it is inevitable....

8) Sherlock

Already a smash hit in certain circles and the cause of more than a few unhealthy obsessions, this remake of Sherlock uses the powerful acting of Benedict Cumberbatch to drive a new version of the famous detective into the hearts of lonely teens everywhere. Cumberbitches 4 lyfe.

9) Buffy The Vampire Slayer

This awesome nineties era bastion of feminism is complete with fantastically rad plot points, proto-Mean Girls high school cliques, monsters that hid under your bed, and male and female leads to drool over endlessly as you explore the world of bizarre haircuts and ancient computers with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

10) Arrested Development

One of the pillars of current comedy and the source of endless references that will plague your college life, Arrested Development is one of the absolute must-watch shows on this list. Even the fourth series, which was loved and hated by fans in equal measure.

11) Wentworth

This Australian prison drama makes Orange Is The New Black look like a fairy tale, with the brutal reality of prison for all to see. The ideal series to watch if you can't stand Piper Chapman anymore and crave something more violent. *Weirdo*
