7 New Irish Tracks You Need To Hear This Week

We've managed to get to part two!

Last week, we detailed seven of the best new Irish songs. Well, we're back with another seven this week, things are getting quite exciting!

Rebecca Locke - true love

Are we cheating given the fact that Locke is American? No, she lives in Dublin and we can claim her all we like.

'true love' is a track that is about exactly what you think it is. The track's instrumental is atmospheric triumph, 808s pounding like a heartbeat throughout.

The Coronas - True Love Waits

The Dublin band release their album last Friday, leading to the Irish Times pitting them against Fontaines DC in a battle of Eire...pop?

The Coronas have been around the block and you know exactly what to expect with O'Reilly and co. We're going for the title track from the album here, easy listening at its best.

Hazey Haze & 40hurtz - Pignorant

The PX Music lads from down Limerick way produce some of the most interesting music coming out of this island.

Gravel-voiced lothario Hazey Haze and producer 40hurtz combine on Pignorant for a gem of an EP. Again, we've gone for the title track as the highlight of the project, it's unlike any other hip-hop being produced in Ireland at the moment.

SOAK & Gemma Doherty - I'm Alive

'I'm Alive' is a spoken word collaboration between Derry artist SOAK and Gemma Doherty of Saint Sister.

The piece was created as an 'antidote to anxiety' and which recognises the small joys of life which we take for granted.

Loah - Birthmark

Loah has had a busy lockdown period. Her plans to move to New York were put on hold because of the pandemic, so she was forced to stay in Ireland.

However, thanks to Jameson Connects, she was put in contact with rapper Bas who, with producer Ron Gilmore, came together to create 'Birthmark'.

Monjola - Know You

Another week down, another new artist to fawn over. This week, it's Monjola, who's smooth R&B offering 'Know You' is to die for.

MJ is no stranger to the Irish music scene, having worked behind the scenes for club night Cleavage Club, as well as for artists Tebi Rex and R3D. However, 'Know You' is his first wide release, and it's only the tip of the iceberg.
