The Definitive Ranking Of The 11 Best Tunes From The 1975

If you don't know who The 1975 are then you might want to check that you're not still in 2012. The bands' self-titled debut, The 1975, was critically acclaimed when they burst onto the music scene in 2013. Both of their first albums appeared in Irelands top 5 album charts.

The 1975's second album I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It was voted the number one pop album by Rolling Stones magazine in 2016, and the band is set to release their third album Music for Cars in 2018.

The 1975 are set to play Malahide, Dublin, this Saturday and we couldn't help put together a few of our favourites from the band. Here is our ranking of the best 1975 songs from their first two albums:

11. Fallingforyou - I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It

The song first appeared on the bands' IV ep before the official The 1975 album was released.

10. Sex - I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It

The post-punk revival song was released on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio One show "Hottest Record In The World". It debuted at number 34 on the UK charts.

9. She Way Out - The 1975

She Way Out is considered one of the bands best lyrical songs by critics. We love the line "With a face from a movie scene, a magazine, know what I mean?".

8. Robbers - The 1975

Of course, this song, like so many of the bands' tunes, includes lead singer Matty's favourite line "She had a face straight out a magazine." Robbers is the sixth single released from The 1975.

7. Somebody Else - I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It

Somebody Else is their highest charted single on the Alternatives chart. NME named it the second best song of 2016.

6. Settle Down - The 1975

Settle down was nearly chosen over The City as a single but we love both tracks regardless.

5. The City - The 1975

One of the bands most popular songs almost wasn't released as a single. The song featured on the FIFA 14 game.

4. Chocolate - The 1975

The bands' first single went to number 9 on the Irish charts. The self-titled album was recorded with Arctic Monkeys collaborator Mike Crossey.

3. Girls - The 1975

The music video, like Sex, was recorded in colour. The band decided to move away from monochrome videos as they were concerned their fans thought it was forced upon them by their record label.

2. Love Me - I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It

The band's 80's sounding song is Love Me and defines the bands sound as a whole. It's the first song on the second album.

1. The Sound - I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It

The Sound is the ultimate feel good tune that should be added to every future playlist imaginable. If you're trying to win anyone over to The 1975 then play them this. It's the bands' highest charting single.
