Whopper: RTÉ's 'Damo & Ivor' Is Being Made Into A Movie

The well-known catch phrases of North and South Dublin are about to get a big screen debut.

The massively popular Irish comedy show Damo & Ivor is to be made into a feature film with production set to start this summer.  The comedy duo has a huge online following with 8 million views on YouTube and four top 10 singles which include ‘Everybody’s Drinkin’’ and ‘Big Box Little Box’.

In 2011, the concept for Damo & Ivor began on Youtube and then appeared weekly on RTÉ's Republic of Telly . The series focused on the lives of identical twin brothers separated not long after birth.  One of the boys, Damo, is left to grow up on the mean streets of Dublin's Northside and is raised by his grandmother Grano. His twin brother, Ivor, is given a life of wealth and luxury in Dublin's affluent Foxrock by parents who shower their son with money and little else.

Andy Quirke will reprise his roles as both Damo and Ivor while Ronan and Rob Burke, who directed the second series of Damo & Ivor, are on board to direct the film.

Speaking about the feature film, directors Ronan and Rob Burke said:
We are beyond excited to be directing Damo & Ivor The Movie. It is a hilarious script that brings these characters to the big screen in a big way.  The fans will not be disappointed, it's gonna be whopper!

Meanwhile, the writer, creator, and lead actor Andy Quirke added:
With a fan base as big as this I really feel it will break some records! I can’t wait for the fans to come on this next part of the journey.

The film is set to be an adventure that takes the brothers across Ireland where they "discover that sometimes you can’t judge a book by its cover". Damo and Ivor seek to find the last piece of their family puzzle and track down their long lost brother John Joe.

We're guessing the duo might actually be a trio with a 'culchie' brother...

While we wait for 2018 to come around, let's remember some of the classic music videos and epic scenes Damo and Ivor have created over the years. Here are just three of our all time favourite moments from Damo & Ivor:
