The controversial award ceremony has finally announced its nominees for the 2018 awards show...

In the past, R'n'B artists and award commentators have criticised the Grammys for repeatedly overlooking genres such as hip-hop and rap when it came to the big awards. Last year fans of the awards weren't happy that Beyoncé's Lemonade, an album about black female empowerment, lost out to Adele's 25. The year before that Taylor Swifts 1989 won over Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly. Twitter couldn't help but be excited about today's nominees:

This year the Grammys did what they should've been doing for years and seem to be moving in the right direction - celebrating people of colour. SZA, Childish Gambino, DJ Khalid, Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z are the big contenders for this years awards. Jay-Z cranks up the most nods with eight nominations. We've narrowed down the 13 artists you need to listen to before the January 28th ceremony:
