Watch: A Vicious New Teen Comedy Is Set To Become 2018's Answer To 'Mean Girls'

It seems like every week another reboot is happening but we're already buzzed about this one. If you're a fan of Netflix, Winona Ryder or the '80s genre then you'll know about the classic teen movie Heathers (1988).

Heathers is a cult classic based on a clique of vicious popular teenagers who call themselves The Heathers after their ringleader Heather (Shannon Doherty).  New girl Veronica, Winona Ryder, tries to take down the Heathers, much like the 2004s Mean Girls - Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) becomes a part of The Plastics and ends up tearing the group apart.

Now Paramount is taking Heathers and rebooting it into a TV show of the same name that's set to become 2018's answer to the bitchy teen comedy, which has been barren in memorable attempts since 2004's Mean Girls. The original all white and straight cast has been diversified, reflecting life as a teenager in 2018 and subverting the genre.

The new set of Heathers will include a plus-sized Heather (Melanie Field) the leader of the group, a black lesbian (Jasmine Mathews) and a gender-queer male (Brendan Scannell). Winona Ryder's original character Veronica will be played by Grace Victoria Cox, a new Cady Heron. Veronica and her new boyfriend will try to take down the lead Heathers in the most sinister way possible.

Fans of the original Heathers will be thrilled to hear that Shannon Doherty will make an appearance as will Selma Blair (Cruel Intentions). The trailer already looks darker than any of its predecessors and we cannot wait:
