There's A Very Irish Debate Happening About The Correct Slang Term For Off Licence

Ah, the humble off licence, where dreams come true and many of us lose a week's worth of pay on a regular basis. We love the offie. Excuse me, I mean offo. Wait, which is it? This Irish debate to end all Irish debates is happening right now on Reddit. The correct off licence slang is tearing the country apart!

Apparently you call it offie or offo depending on what county you live in. Wicklow? Offie. Dublin? Offo. Comments came in thick and fast:

Offie = Galway

Offy = Cork x 4

Offie = Belfast

Offo = South Dublin

Others said they just call it off licence or the can shop.

It certainly is the question gripping the nation today so we need to settle it once and for all: is it offie or offo?

Tell us what you say and where you're from in the comments.
