The trailer for the emotional final season of Orange Is The New Black has dropped. Seven years and seven season has led up to this finale. The trailer comes exactly a month before the seventh season drops on Netflix on July 26. The announcement was made last month, accompanied by a behind-the-scenes clip of the cast singing the theme song.
The season six finale was quite an emotional one. Taystee was done for a murder she didn't commit. Blanca left prison early to be unwittingly carted off to an immigration detention centre while her husband waited outside the prison with a bouquet of flowers.
To compound this, as Blanca and Taystee's fates were revealed, Piper was granted early release, a comment on racial issues in the US. Season 7 will follow Piper as she struggles to readapt to the outside world.
This may not be the end of the road for the women of Litchfield. There has already been talks between Netflix and series creator Jenji Kohan about a follow-up series. Lionsgate TV chairman Kevin Beggs said;
"We're really proud of the long run that Orange Is The New Black has had. It remains one of Netflix's most-watched shows. We're ending on a high note. Keep in mind we own that series and will be distributing it for years to come. We're already in discussions and, when the timing is right, we'll talk further with Jenji about a potential sequel."
The seventh and final season of Orange Is The New Black will be streaming on Netflix from July 26.
