This Irish Guy Rapping As Gaeilge Will Surprise You In A Good Way

The image of an Irish guy rapping is something that isn't supposed to work, I think we can all agree on that.

However, when this band came on to play at the TG4 20th anniversary for Halloween, this little beauty of a clip somehow slipped by us. The clip features Aeons & Séamus Barra Ó Súilleabháin rocking out on stage.

The video itself starts off funky enough, with the band playing the song An Fhuil with some cool on stage outfits. What surprised everyone was when Séamus Barra Ó Súilleabháin started to actually rap in Irish, and to our surprise – it didn't sound shite.

Ó Súilleabháin is an Irish rap poet based in Listowel, Co Kerry who is trying to change the way we think about the Irish language. His performance on the night for TG4XX is seriously fresh and gives an edgy slant to the Irish language.

Check out the video below, Ó Súilleabháin starts at 1:56.
