The Viewing Figures For The Toy Show Are In And They're Huge

The official ratings for last Friday’s Late Late Toy Show are here.

Throughout the show, the average audience watching was 1.2 million, while the numbers peaked at 1,732,500 viewers.

The institution clearly has as strong a pull on the nation as ever. Tubridy spoke on his disbelief of the sheer number of people that tuned in to watch him prance about dressed as a lobster singing 'The Little Mermaid':

It never ceases to amaze me how many people hold The Late Late Toy Show so dear.

The fact that so many people let us become part of their world over the weekend is really heartening and the reaction I have been getting from people since the show has been overwhelming.

According to figures released by RTÉ, 9 out of ten children in Ireland tuned in on Friday night, with more than 134,000 viewers watching on RTÉ Player the next day.

These number truly reinforce what a communal event the Late Late Toy show is.

Here's the standout moment of this year's show: when Ryan reunited sergeant Graham Burke based Mali where he has been completing his 6th tour of duty peacekeeping overseas with his wife and three unsuspecting kids. Grab the kleenex.
