Goodbye Social Lives, Love Island Bosses Are Planning A Winter Love Island

We are currently in the midst of Love Island fever. The year's series returned to our screens earlier this month and we've been captivated ever since. The series is on six days a week and is running for a total of eight weeks, so for fans of the show, it has dominated Summer evenings. Drinks with friends on a Friday evening have been replaced with quiet nights in to watch Love Island. In work, the Monday chat around the water cooler has moved from the events of the weekend to the love lives of strangers. ITV bosses are set to capitalise even more on the Love Island phenomenon by introducing Winter Love Island.

According to The Sun, Winter Love Island will be filmed in South Africa over the Christmas period and will follow the same format as the current show. An insider said:

After the flop of Survival of the Fittest producers want to keep the format simple and mop up the gaping hole Celebrity Big Brother left reality TV hungry audiences.

Winter Love Island makes sense as fans adore the drama and love triangles and everyone wants to enjoy a bit of sun on screens in the cold winter months.

It’s still in the very early stages and casting isn’t even close, but producers at ITV Studios and crew are definitely gearing up for it.

ITV has yet to comment on these reports. Love Island has been such a hit with fans and ratings for this year's show have gone through the roof. Therefore, it's not surprising that TV executives want to bleed that cash cow dry.

I might sign up, purely to dodge the Irish winter.
