The Lazy Girl's Guide To Detoxing Through Tea

Okay, okay so it's a bit late in the day for the whole "new year, new me" bullshit. But I think our poor bodies are getting a bit sick and tired of our constant boozing, takeaways and schneaky cigarettes. Give yourself a break - your organs will totally thank you for it. Detoxing sounds scary but it isn't all kale shots and eating bowls of raw broccoli. There's a world of teas out there that'll cure all that ails you.

1. Ginger Tea

The first time I was offered ginger tea was by an ex-boyfriend's mam when I was dying with my third sore throat in a month. No only did it taste like regular tea with a melted Ginger Nut in it (yum), but it totally eased the pain so quickly. It also relieves inflammation (read: migraines) and the vitamins and amino acids in ginger boost circulation around the body. Throw in a bitta honey or lemon and sure you're laughing.

2. White Tea

3. Black Tea

This is a super tea - it is packed with antioxidants which can help repair damage caused by smoking and toxic chemicals. Studies have also shown a significant decrease in the risk of Ovarian cancer. However, black tea must be consumed in moderation - so no more than four cups a day as the caffeine could cause sleep issues and headaches.

Chamomile tea is perfect for anyone that is suffering from anxiety. It's a stress reliever because it relaxes nerves. I think we can all relate to this with our lives being so crammed with deadlines and late nights. Stop for a few minutes and sit down with a cup of chamomile tea. Inhale its fragrance and let your body and mind relax. You owe yourself that much before you head off to Coppers again, right?
