The Adrenaline Junkie's List Of Adventures To Do In Ireland Before You Die

Do you get your kicks from jumping out of planes, mountain biking down slopes and competing in adventure races? Well, we've got the bucket list for you.

On April 8th, Quest Glendalough will be hosting a multi adventure sport race as part of their Quest Adventure Series. What's class about the event is there's three different difficulty levels to choose from, so everyone can get down and dirty.

To get your heart racing even further, we've come up with five blood pumping activities that every adrenaline junkie should do before they die. What's great about all of these if that you don't even need to leave the Emerald Isle to do most of them.

With everything from swimming in the Atlantic ocean, biking across the mountains of Kerry and kayaking in an adventure race – we guarantee you'll be out of breath by the end of these activities.

1. Mountain bike down Ticknock in the Dublin mountains

This is a serious heart-pumping activity that every level can enjoy. Just bring your own bike and set out on the many trails that line the entire mountain. While you're at it take in the stunning views of Dublin from the summit and take some Instagram-worthy snaps.

2. Try a 1 mile open sea swim

There are open sea swimming clubs scattered all over the country. Swim races are held every weekend with two annual major swims attracting hundreds of swimmers each time. Locations include Dun Laoghaire and Sandycove, Cork and are sure to knock that hangover.

3. Do an adventure race

This is the ultimate adrenaline inducing activity and pushes your body to the absolute limit. Why not mix it up and try the Quest adventure series? The event is a one-day multi-sport adventure race where super fit people run, kayak and cycle around the Wilds of Wicklow. Sign-ups are now closed but you can put your name on this waiting list in case places become available. Other locations include Killarney and Achill.

4. Rock climbing

This is a no-brainer really. Rock climbing involves climbing up some sort of jagged cliff - real or artificial - with the intention to make it to the top. It involves serious concentration and upper body strength and is an amazing workout as well as being some craic.

5. Cliff Diving

There is nothing as fun as jumping from a huge cliff and crashing into the sea. Although most people will think you're bonkers as the water is pretty icy all year-round, there's really no rush quite like it. Some great locations include Howth Head, Dublin and Old Head, Mayo.
