If ever there's something standing in the way of your sessioning, just think - what would this group of New Zealanders do?

The group of friends were facing a dry New Year's due to a drink ban had been put in place on the Coromandel Peninsula on New Zealand's North Island.

That didn't stop them though. Bringing creativity to a whole new level, they built a makeshift island to avoid the New Year's Eve alcohol ban.

The gang built the sand island off the coast of Tairua, which managed to fit a picnic table and Esky, during low tide on Sunday and then waited for rising tide to surround them.

Officials saw the funny side - Commander Inspector John Kelly commended the group for their "creative thinking."

He told The New Zealand Herald: "If I have of known that I probably would have joined them."

You can't argue with inventiveness.
