The Ex-Chairman Of Corona Just Made His Whole Village Rich

The former chairman of Corona beer, Antonino Fernández, left a large portion of his $210 million fortune to the 80 residents of his home village when he passed away earlier this year. His inheritance was shared out among the 80 residents of Cerezales del Condado in the northwest of Spain, averaging out to $2 million each.

Fernández, spent his youth in the village, battling poverty that eventually forced him to leave school at 14 to work on his parent's farm. He left for Mexico at the age of 32 to help his uncle run the family business, which would eventually become Corona beer. Fernández worked his way up the company to eventually become chairman in the 70s, before stepping down and handing over the reigns to his nephew in 2001

Fernández was renown for his philanthropy and founded several charities in Mexico and Spain that help disabled people find employment.
